With Taylor Swift’s re-release of her beloved fourth studio album coming out at the end of this week, here are five books to get you in the mood for the nostalgia and pop anthems that will be stuck in your head for weeks to come!
The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther
This Taylor Swift-inspired book definitely had me blushing the whole way through and wishing I was on the beach. With 1989 (Taylor’s Version) being revamped into a beach album, this book is the perfect one to lounge with in the sand. Lovers of “How You Get The Girl (Taylor’s Version)” and “Wonderland (Taylor’s Version)” will enjoy the playful banter and romance in this story. I fell for the adorable puppy love between Meredith and Wit and stayed for their deep emotional connection and family drama. I honestly can’t recommend this book enough.
Twisted Love by Ana Huang
If you’re into some of the more will-they-won’t-they songs on Taylor’s album like “I Wish You Would (Taylor’s Version)” and “All You Had To Do Was Stay (Taylor’s Version)”, you’ll love this on-again-off-again romance novel that you can’t escape on Booktok. Ava Chen and Alex Volkov are an improbable match with undeniable magnetism that had me hooked from the first page.
What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
While this is a YA book instead of an adult romance novel like the others on this list, it’s jam-packed with tons of hilariously witty one-liners and adorably romantic moments that make it worthwhile. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of “Welcome to New York (Taylor’s Version)” and “New Romantics (Taylor’s Version)”. New York is its own character in this novel and Ben and Arthur’s adventures to find their way to each other in the city is the cutest start to their relationship ever.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
The marriage of convenience in this book between assistant Vanessa and Hockey star Aiden definitely gave “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” and “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version)” vibes. Between the moments of pining and arguing, this grumpy/sunshine duo definitely made for a book I couldn’t put down.
Happy Place by Emily Henry
This second chance romance is perfect for fans of “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” and “Out of the Woods (Taylor’s Version)”. Harriet, Wyn, and their perfect summer by the beach for their best friends’ wedding led to so many explosive moments thanks to their chemistry and complicated history. The suspense and adventure in this story definitely had me on the edge of my seat and the romance was one I think Taylor Swift would approve of.
Think there are more 1989-esque books that I missed? Feel free to drop me a comment here or on Instagram! I’m always looking for more books to add to my ever-growing TBR!
