A few years ago, I honestly didn’t think I would come close to reading ten books in a year, let alone the 35 I read last year. This year, I want to challenge myself even further and try to read 52 books, or about one a week.
One of the ways I plan to hit my goal is by tackling some of my TBR list. Here are some books that I’m planning to read this year that I’ve always wanted to delve into and what drew me to them.
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
When I lived in Hollywood my college roommate told me so many times that I should read this book. Now, almost a year after moving out of Los Angeles, I am craving the sunshine more than anything (especially since there is so little of it in Seattle). I think this book will be one that brightens my week for sure.
Love, Chai, and Other Four-Letter Words by Annika Sharma
I love reading about women who have similar lived experiences as me, especially since it is a rarity in romance novels today. This book in particular appeals to me because it’s set in New York and has so many layers of love and family. I can’t wait to dive into this adorable romance story.
The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
Yes, I know this series is controversial. I started reading it when I was in high school back when it was super popular and only got as far as the third book. I really want to finish the series though, especially since I hope to meet Cassandra Clare at Emerald City Comic Con this year and get her to sign my copy of City of Bones. Younger me would be so proud.
Behind the Net by Stephanie Archer
Last year, I really discovered my love for hockey romance books and I want to keep it alive through this year. I received a copy of this book through a holiday Bookstagram exchange and I can’t wait to devour it, especially since my mutuals keep gushing about this book and the author. I already know it will be a five-star read for me.
The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas
I know what you’re thinking— How could I have not read this book already?— and you’re totally right. My friends keep telling me Elena Armas is an auto-buy author for them and it’s time I see what all the hype is about. I love travelling and want to go to Europe next year so this book will be perfect practice for getting into that vacation mindset.
What is your reading goal for next year? Are there any books you’re really looking forward to reading? Leave a comment here, on my Instagram, or slide into my DMs to let me know what you think!
