BookTok Made Me Read It, Review, Upcoming Release

Review | Drive Me Crazy by Carly Robyn

After highly anticipating this book for the last three months, I was so excited to finally get my hands on a copy and it did not disappoint. From the first page, I was hooked on Blake and Ella’s story, and obsessed with the way they seemed to fit each other perfectly.

As a main character, Ella is everything I hope to be as a journalist. She knows her own power and is confident in her ability to navigate a male-dominated field without apologies. Her curiosity and ability to ask meaningful, caring questions is something that is sometimes missed in reporter characters and I think that investigative personality was perfectly captured on the page. I especially enjoyed how silly and goofy she was, not taking herself too seriously, but standing up for herself when it was important.

I loved that we also got Blake’s POV with chapters delving into his love for being on the track and his dealing with generalised anxiety disorder. His internal struggle as a character enriched the story by a wide margin and I found myself enjoying when he got the mic for his chapters thanks to his shenanigans. This is also by far my favourite case of he falls first and I love how despite being rejected by Ella in the beginning, he is a perfect gentleman and doesn’t allow it to be awkward. I felt like as a character Blake was very comfortable in his masculinity in a very attractive way that made me root for his character despite the fact that he was sometimes a bit of an arsehole.

The slow burn was maddeningly perfect and I loved the anticipation through every stolen kiss and glance across a crowded room. I spent the whole book simultaneously dying for them to get together while also kicking my feet and squealing at their banter and flirting. This is definitely a book couple that I will come back to again and again. The next book in the series can’t come fast enough.

Thank you to Carly Robyn and her team for the ARC.

Five out of five stars.
