Review | Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura

This heartfelt Indiana Jones-inspired romance was so gripping that I finished it in a single day. The book’s vibrant and detailed cover caught my eye at the library and I was so excited to dive into this adventure-filled story set in the Mexican jungle.

From the jump, I was obsessed with main character Connie. From her badass demeanour to her brilliant intelligence, I adored her dedication to her archaeological research, and the way she instantly took control of the expedition and figured out how to address every problem thrown her way.

Ford was a drool-worthy adventure companion for Connie, and I loved delving into his POV every other chapter. He was such an idiot, but I adored how protective he was of Connie and part of me did love how he kept saving and taking care of her. Their history and the twist of being past academic rivals made this story so much more exciting to read.

There were so many moments this book made me laugh out loud, and others that were so tender and heartfelt. I loved the banter between Connie and Ford and how they challenged each other, but also allowed themselves to be vulnerable together. This story was such a rollercoaster, but I was captivated by every moment of it.

Five out of five stars.
