Fun Things, Listicle

My Top 5 of 2024!

This year was crazy, but despite its ups and downs, I wasn’t able to achieve my goal of reading 52 books. I ended up not wanting to speed through reading just for the goal, but I had a lot of fun, and I’m glad I challenged myself. Next year, my goal is the same, and I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish. For now, here are my fave books from this year!

Cross The Line by Simone Soltani

Dev is one of my absolute fave book boyfriends; I love his golden retriever personality and how much he absolutely adores Willow. I loved sneaking around with them on this secret brother’s best friend romance. This book has incredible representation too; I really resonated with both the main characters. I loved how Dev and Willow achieve personal development rather than the plot simply following their romantic relationship.

‘Til Heist Do Us Part by Sarah Desai

I’m not ashamed to say I think about Jack almost every day with a stupid blush on my dumb face. The absolute swoon-worthy, panty-incinerating things he would say to Simi, oh my. Following Simi through the shenanigans of leading a heist was just as fun a second time around, especially with the steamy second-chance romance unfolding despite her “break” with Jack.

Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura

This fun Indiana Jones-themed adventure was filled with heart-pounding moments both inside Corrie and Ford’s tent and out in the wild jungle. I loved Ford’s protective personality and the academic rivals-to-lovers vibe between him and Corrie. The adventure of the archaeology dig was just as thrilling to read as the banter between the two leads.

The Goal by Elle Kennedy

This book was such a riot, there were multiple moments when I had to pause reading because I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe. I love books where the main male character is a gentleman and protective, and he falls first and harder. Tucker is all that and more with a Southern accent. I loved his sense of humour and carefree attitude. Despite tackling many hard topics, moments of humour and found family make this a cosy, heartfelt read.

Funny Story by Emily Henry

It’s no surprise that Emily Henry’s release for this year is rounding out my list of favourite books. I fell in love with Daphne and Miles’ chemistry and how the two of them navigated their relationship and the uncertainty of their lives. This heartfelt page-turner gave me a newfound appreciation for my librarian and my bartender.

Honourable mentions: Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai, Drive Me Crazy by Carly Robyn, Daydream by Hannah Grace, The Pairing by Casey McQuiston, and What Happens After Midnight by K.L. Walther

Thanks for sticking with me during this wild year of reading! I hope I was able to provide you with a good recommendation or two. Stick around next year for more reviews, listicles, and silly goofing around.
