Review

Review | Sunshine and Spice by Aurora Palit

Going into this book, I didn’t have many expectations because I honestly didn’t even read the back. I just loved the whimsy of the cover and it did not disappoint. This cute romance is jam-packed with all my favorite tropes including fake dating, grumpy x sunshine, and a business renovation!

From the first page, I fell in love with Naomi and her ambition. I love how she approached every situation with an open mind and every setback with resilience and determination. Being a coconut myself, I identified with the disconnect she felt from her community and her desperation to find where she fit in.

I was absolutely obsessed with MMC Dev’s brooding and awkward demeanor, especially since he spends a majority of his POV chapters waxing poetic about Naomi. I love books where he falls first and harder and boy does Dev tumble head over heels. Their tangible chemistry translated into hilarious banter, heartfelt emotional intimacy, and passionate moments that had me kicking my feet and squealing.

I love how effortlessly Palit creates a captivating world that feels full of people who have their own lives. I appreciated getting insight into Dev’s complex family relationships and Naomi’s friendship.

This book truly was a ray of sunshine to read (especially with the freezing weather here in Seattle). I love how easily the romance sweeps you up into it; I picked it up before bed and ended up finishing it at three in the morning.

Five out of five stars!
