Review

Review | Wild Love by Elsie Silver

After being in a reading slump for a few weeks, I picked up Wild Love because the audiobook was readily available on Libby and I heard good things about the voice actor. I definitely wasn’t disappointed, any time I wasn’t reading I was listening to the audio book and getting distracted while working out, at work, and even while driving.

I was obsessed with Ford Grant and the banter between him and Rosie, especially with the way they both consistently tried to provoke each other. Reading their emails had me cracking up, and I loved how we also got glimpses of Rosie and Ford falling in love as teenagers through her diary entries.

Male main characters who fall first and harder and are protective are the best, I especially loved Ford’s confidence and the way he fought for Rosie and put her first. I loved how mature their romance was and how the story avoided some of the classic conflicts that come with the brother’s best friend trope, including the brother interfering or an unnecessary third-act breakup.

While the Elsie Silver Universe books are considered interconnected standalone, I think I definitely should have finished the Chestnut Springs series first before starting this book. I just didn’t really love Flawless, but it makes sense that writers improve over time.

Five out of five stars.
